KOLKATA POLICE ARRESTS WOMAN WHO HAS FILED 11 RAPE & MOLESTATION CASES ON CHARGES OF EXTORTION AND BLACKMAIL

A woman named RAGESREE GOPE, has been arrested by Kolkata police on charges of extortion and aggravated blackmail 

Police said the woman has filed multiple rape and molestation cases across the city in last 4 years and two cases of extortion have been registered against her. As many as 11 FIRs have been registered by her at Golf Green police station, survey park police station, Regent Park police station, Jadhavpur police station, Rabindra Sarobar police station and Kasba police station under charges of  BNS 79,BNS 351,BNS 54, BNS 115, BNS 64, BNS 61, BNS 62, IPC 323, IPC 324, IPC 341 IPC 509, IPC 506, IPC 427. 

She has registered more than 4 rape cases within a year on various people 

In April a doctor from the city filed case against her alleging criminal intimidation by verbal written or electronic means with injury to their body, reputation or property, extortion, putting in fear of injury , putting in fear of death or serious hurt, and putting in fear of accusations of heinous offences.  

An FIR was filed against ragesree gope  at PANCHASAYAR police station under the sections of BNS 308(7) and BNS 351 (2) in April 26 on orders of the ACGM court, Kolkata , West Bengal. 

Another gym employee filed an FIR against ragesree gope at survey park police station under the sections BNS 79/115(2) BNS 308(3),BNS 351 (2) for insulting  modesty of woman, voluntarily causing hurt, extortion, putting in fear of death or  hurt, fear of injury, fear of accusation of heinous offences , serious threat and criminal intimidation on 28 may 2026

Few days ago an NGO Ekam Nyaay Foundation wrote to DGP West Bengal and CP Kolkata requesting formation of an SIT in the case seeking investigation into multiple rape and molestation cases filed by ragesree gope 

Police arrested ragesree gope On 19 September 2026. She has been sent to 13 days police custody 

Deepika Narayan Bhardwaj, Director, Ekam Nyaay Foundation said : I was approached by victims of Ragesree Gope two months ago. We gathered all the details, looked into similar FIRs she has filed and approached higher police officials. We wrote to DGP West Bengal and CP Kolkata requesting an SIT. Finally after six months of FIR against her she has been arrested. This is a good development but I have got to know she has filed many more cases across Kolkata. An SIT can unravel more cases and also her accomplices. Like this case we have got women arrested across India in Gurgaon, Jabalpur, Jaipur who have filed anywhere from 7 to 13 rape cases for purpose of extortion. I would like to request victims of such serial extortionists to approach senior police officials and not remain silent. I am thankful to Shailja ma'am and Sparsha ma'am from DC DD Kolkata Police who took swift action in this case.
